Nice video and nice demonstration. I have one suggestion though, consider using cinch down straps instead of the ones you used. You can find them in the automotive department of most retail outlet stores. They are about 1 inch wide, and look lighter then the ones you used.

There are two types of cinch down straps, quick cinch and ratchet. I use the quick cinch kind, the ratchet are a hassle to setup.

Keep in mind this is for warm and hot weather camping - For the lightweight hiker and camper, a hammock is the way to go. Not having to carry a tent allows for a few pounds to be shaved off the pack, so the hike is more enjoyable.

In my pack I carry 4 things for setting up my hammock - rope, hammock, rain poncho, and poncho liner.

Once the hammock is setup, I'll run a rope above the hammock and between the trees. This is what holds the rain poncho up. Then use some guide wires to pull the poncho out wide. Its not going to stop a major storm, but if a sprinkle comes through in the middle of the night the rain poncho should be enough.

Instead of a sleeping bag, I'll bring a military poncho liner. They compress nicely and are warm enough to keep the cool night air away.
